Ribbon X-Back Yarn

I recently joined the KAL (knit a long) for Knitty's Ribbon X-Back. I received my yarn this afternoon. It is Crystal Palace Deco-Ribbon in the Tulips colorway. Can't wait to get those needles clicking!

A Big Hello to my Secret Pal

I just received your post on the Knitty SP4 thread. I'm looking forward to visiting with you. This is the first time I have participated in a Secret Pal, and I find it very exciting. What better chance to get to know people and bring joy to someone's life!

10) When you are knitting a gift for someone, you spend hours thinking about them. I think all of the time spent having fond thoughts of that person is something very special.

What I Learned: Fair Isle and how to do a flat I-cord
Comments: I took the Fair Isle class at Yarns 2 Ewe with my mother. Fair Isle is the most enjoyable knitting technique that I have learned so far. It keeps you on your toes because you are knitting with both hands. It's definitely not boring. This was also the first time I have used a Noro yarn. I've heard people on the internet rave about it, and now I see why. Both my mother and I knit an extra repeat of the pattern just so that we could have all of the colors of the yarn showing. The flat 9 stitch I cord is so cool looking that I had to give it its own picture. Now, off to felt this little darling. I'll post the finished product later.

Things I Love About Knitting (an on-going tale...)

My knitting friend Sarah and I were talking, knitting, and watching my kids play outside this past Wednesday. I brought up the subject of why I like knitting. Thought I'd share. These are in no particular order.

1) Knitting soothes the savage beast. It can relax me or take my mind off of whatever ails it like nothing else.

2) It's good for my marriage. First, because of reason #1 and second because I can talk/pay attention to my sweetie while I'm doing something I enjoy.

3) My mother and I have something outside of typical mother/daughter stuff that we share. I think it makes us closer.

4) I've made friends, both in person and over the internet. This has been a really big deal for me. Being a stay-at-home mom, you tend to be somewhat isolated.

5) I've jumped in to the fabulous world of blogging!

6) I can create tangible things that I can be proud of (or at least proud that I tried)

7) It's portable. Not to many hobbies can say that realistically.

8) I can be productive while doing something as brain dead as watching TV

9) It gives me something to look forward to. I get so excited knowing that as soon as I finish X project, I have Y in the wings.

We meet at a coffeeshop right across from the courthouse in Richmond. I feel very fortunate to knit with such a great group of ladies. We have a great time visiting, drinking coffee, and of course, knitting (duh!) Notice that my babies are wearing the halters I knit them...had to show off my mad skills.

This being April Fool's Day, one of the super ladies on the Knitty bulletin board thought it would be fun to "flash our stashes". This amounts to about nine projects that are waiting in the wings. This doesn't include the whole box of left-over yarn in my stash. Egads! I better start knitting faster.
