Hurricane Rita

It looks like hurricane Rita is heading our way. For those of you who don't know where Katy is, we live on the west side of Houston. My husband told me this morning that I might want to stock up on supplies just in case, so I headed to our neighborhood Target. I bought the last radio and flashlight. They were almost out of batteries and water. What went from a "just in case" shopping expedition turned into panic. I managed to go to several stores and find all of the things on my list, thank goodness.

It's like a war zone at my grocery store! Apparently there's no water left at the Walmart on Fry. It's good to see everyone so prepared, but a little scary to see this panic.

Amy--remember you don't have to BUY water. Just clean your tub and fill it up. That's what we're going to do. Also fill up pots and pans and glasses and cups and empty soda bottles....That's what I'm doing.

Anyway, it doesn't look like it is going to be a direct hit on us anymore. Check out www.noaa.gov for the real-not-hyped-up-by-local-media forcast.

Hope you guys are doing ok and don't need all those supplies, although I've been watching the news and it looks like it's going to hit soon. But maybe not so badly?

My brother's family lived in Katy. I visited once in 1996. They've just moved OR last October.

Stay safe! We'll be keeping your family in our prayers.
