My 15 Minutes of Fame

Christine from the Houston based knitting podcast Pointy Sticks interviewed me several weeks ago to get the low-down on Yarntopia. Why has no one told me I have the voice of a 12 year old?!? Christine has done a fantastic job with the podcast. She's witty, insightful, and has great music. Go check it out.

I also had the pleasure of seeing Christine this weekend at our grand opening. She even brought us poppy seed bread that her hubby made. Love her! Our grand opening was a smashing success. Thanks to all of y'all who came out. For those of you who couldn't, we appreciate your words of encouragement and hope you can head to Katy soon.

Now for some long overdue pictures. I received a pressie from across the pond. Glitter Girl thought I needed to try some Marmite (I didn't know what the stuff was). Not only did she send me this interesting concoction, but other goodies as well. Thank you Suzanne.

I also received an amazing package from my Needle Exchange pal. Don't hate me for my Namasted glass needles and case. Wendy, you are too much!

Hey, you didn't tell me about the glass needles. I didn't know there was such a thing. And we forgot that I wanted to listen to your podcast. I still can't open it on my computer. I'm sure you don't sound like a 12 year old.

So...I read the Yarntopia blog and learned that (1) you met Drew and (2) Drew won something.

I am so incredibly jealous of you and Drew. I sent Drew your way! What thanks do I get? :-)

I'll have to check out the podcast, I sing and I've done some studio recordings and I'm always surprised how my voice sounds, it's hard to listen to myself sometimes, so I know what you mean!

LOL, I just checked out the Yarntopia site and put in my address to get directions and found out it's only a 23 hour and 6 minute drive from my house to your shop!

WOW. Those are such great presents. You can't go wrong with Namaste needles!

I'm only a little over 1215 miles away (and mostly highway). I'd much rather drive to Yarntopia than work tomorrow :D

A podcast, cool!!! I'm sure you sound fine. No one likes to hear their own voice. Nice presents!

If it helps, I still cringe when I hear my own voice! I don't think you sound like a 12 year old at all - I think you're adorable! We'll have to burn a CD for your Mom of the podcast so she can hear you too!

I have always drooled over those glass needles, but never given into the temptation to buy them since I prefer to knit on circular needles. Maybe someday...

Hey Amy! I am glad the Grand OPening went well. Yanrtopia sounds amazng and I can't wait for the online presence to get bigger - A trip from the UK is a LONG way! I love seeing the things I send to people on their blogs, I had forgotten how pretty that necklace was. Hope you enjoy wearing it, and hope the silk knits up into something lovely and sunny! I will be in touch soon for some of that yummy yarn you teased me with. :D

Glad to hear the grand opening was so grand! Count me among those who wishes she could have been there.

LOVE that needle case. If I used more straight needles I would definitely be coveting it right now.

Congrats again on your shop opening. What a dream! I just ran over to Pointy Sticks and downloaded your starring podcast to listen to on the train. I'll give you a verdict on the voice...personally I like I sound like a kid or a Barbie too. Hate the recorded voice.

I laughed outloud when I read the part that your voice sounded like a 12 year old. I get that all the time and I am 40'. I love the look of your new yarn store and so sad that I live about 1300 miles away! Are you going to be doing mail orders too?

Doesn't everyone hate the sound of their own voice? I can't stand mine and wonder how anyone can bear to listen to me talk...

Have you tried the Marmite yet? It's definitely an acquired taste (and I have no desire to acquire it! yuck!).
